Belgium: Terrorist cell plot to target the Prime Minister foiled
BRUSSELS, Oct 9 (Reuters) - Belgium's prosecutor's office and Deputy Prime Minister Maxime Prevost said on Thursday they had foiled a "terrorist" cell's plot to attack Belgian politicians, including Prime Minister Bart De Wever.
"The news of the planned attack targeting Prime Minister Bart De Wever is extremely shocking," Prevost wrote on the X platform.
"The news highlights that we are facing a very real terrorist threat and we must remain vigilant," he added.
The Belgian federal prosecutor's office said Antwerp police had arrested two suspects and were questioning them as part of an operation against the cell.
