During his party's election campaign, Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) President Bafel Talabani emphasized that they want a "strong and unified Iraq," considering that what they are doing "will change the future of Iraq as a whole."
During an election rally in Sulaymaniyah on Saturday (October 18, 2025), Bafel Talabani addressed Iraqi voters who decided not to vote, asking, "Why aren't you coming to vote for the PUK? The PUK has never harmed Iraqis."
Iraq will hold parliamentary elections on November 11, with more than 7,000 candidates competing for 329 parliamentary seats. 21.4 million voters are eligible to cast their ballots, 14.3% of whom are in the Kurdistan Region.
Bafel Talabani also addressed his party's supporters, saying, "Your rights are in Baghdad, and what we are doing will change the future of Iraq as a whole. Our goal is to serve the people of Kurdistan and Iraq."
The PUK leader described his party's primary goal as "service," adding, "We have one goal, which is service, and the government must serve the people."
He criticized the lack of services, citing the lack of "job opportunities," noting that "electricity is not up to scratch, and people with special needs are not being served as they should."
Pavel Talabani emphasized peaceful coexistence in Kirkuk, saying, "We serve other communities before the Kurds."
