The Iraqi Hockey Federation announced on Tuesday its participation in the Asian Junior Championship, which will be held in the Omani capital, Muscat, with wide Asian participation. The head of the Iraqi Hockey Federation, Khalil Yassin, said in a press interview that “Iraq will participate in the Asian Championship scheduled for the end of this month in the capital, Muscat, with wide participation from Asian junior teams.” He added that the technical committee of the federation named the national team’s coaching staff, which consists of coach Munir Qaddouri, his assistant, Atheer Mohammed, and goalkeeping coach Ali Ismail. Yassin indicated that the federation pays great attention to the junior category and is working to develop it to be a basic tributary and a solid foundation for the national team in the future. The federation president explained that “the federation is currently holding a training camp in Sulaymaniyah Governorate to prepare the national team to participate in the tournament,” indicating that “the team has actually begun its training, and the camp will continue until the twentieth of this month.”
