Leaders of European countries, including Britain, France, Germany, Ukraine, and the European Union, issued a joint statement on Tuesday affirming their support for Ukraine and US President Donald Trump's efforts to end the fighting there.
The statement, published by the British government, read, "We strongly support President Trump's position that the fighting must stop immediately, and that the current contact line must be the starting point for negotiations."
The statement added, "We must intensify pressure on Russia's economy and military industry until (Russian President Vladimir) Putin is ready to make peace. We are developing measures to unlock the full value of frozen Russian sovereign assets to ensure Ukraine receives the resources it needs."
