Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari discussed enhancing joint security cooperation and coordination between the two countries on Wednesday with the Commander-in-Chief of the Somali Police Forces.
A statement from the ministry, received by the Iraq Times, stated that "Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari met at the ministry headquarters with the Commander-in-Chief of the Somali Police Forces and his accompanying delegation to discuss enhancing joint security cooperation and coordination between the two countries and exchanging expertise in various security fields. The meeting was attended by a number of commanders and officers. The meeting also discussed enhancing bilateral cooperation in the field of training between the two countries' security agencies."
The statement added that "the two sides discussed mechanisms for enhancing coordination and activating memoranda of cooperation and understanding between the two countries."
According to the statement, Al-Shammari affirmed his keenness to "strengthen the bilateral relationship between Iraq and Somalia, while the Commander-in-Chief of the Somali Police thanked Al-Shammari for the warm reception and welcome."
