The United Nations launches a new forum to address the debt crisis in developing economies.
A new UN-backed forum was launched Wednesday to address the most pressing debt issues in developing economies, at a time when policymakers have warned that mounting debt burdens are diverting funding away from vital development investments.
The forum, called the Seville Debt Forum, is led by Spain and was presented during the 16th session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in Geneva. The forum aims to bring together creditors and debtors, along with international financial institutions, experts, and academics.
