Iran announces suspension of cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency
Iran's Supreme National Security Council announced that cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will effectively be suspended due to the actions of the European countries (the Troika).
Tasnim News Agency reported that the Secretariat of the Supreme National Security Council issued a statement on Saturday evening, stating, "The Supreme National Security Council held a session today, chaired by President Masoud Pezeshkian, and discussed the situation in the region and the adventures of the Zionist entity, emphasizing that the policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran under the current circumstances will be to cooperate to the greatest extent possible to establish peace and stability in the region."
The statement added, "The actions of some countries on the international scene in the military and sanctions fields were also analyzed, including a discussion of the ill-considered actions of three European countries (Britain, France, and Germany) regarding the Iranian nuclear issue. Despite the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' cooperation with the agency and the presentation of proposals to resolve the issue, the actions of the European countries will effectively lead to the suspension of cooperation with the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency)."
The statement indicated that "the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is tasked with continuing consultations within the framework of the decisions of the Supreme National Security Council to protect the country's national interests."
The Council affirmed that Tehran's policy under the current circumstances will be "broader cooperation to promote peace and stability in the region."
