The assistant spokesperson for the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) stated that campaigning after this time could result in disqualification.

Nibras Abu Souda, the IHEC spokesperson, stated today, Saturday, November 8, 2025, that campaigning during the electoral silence period is a legal violation and will subject violators to penalties.

He indicated that the penalties vary depending on the type of violation, ranging from fines to disqualification, depending on the nature of the violation.

The penalties are outlined in Regulation No. 4 of 2025 of the IHEC, which consists of 29 articles and was approved by the Board of Commissioners in July of this year.

According to IHEC statistics, 848 candidates have been disqualified for various reasons as of November 6, bringing the total number of candidates to 7,744.

The Iraqi parliamentary election campaigns began on October 3, 2025, and ended at 7:00 AM on November 8, 2025.

Special voting will take place on November 9, and the general elections for the sixth session of the Iraqi parliament will be held on November 11.
