Colombian President to Trump: Stop defaming me
Colombian President Gustavo Petro rejected the threats and accusations leveled against him by US President Donald Trump.

"My name... doesn't appear in any drug trafficking cases," Petro said on the X platform. "Stop smearing me, Mr. Trump."

The US president had previously stated that an operation in Colombia similar to the one carried out in Venezuela seemed like "a good idea."

Trump accused Petro of smuggling drugs into the United States, warning that the latter "won't be in office for very long."

The Colombian president strongly criticized the military action launched by the Trump administration in the region and condemned the "legally baseless" kidnapping of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

After warning him on Saturday to "watch himself," Trump described his Colombian counterpart as a "sick man" who "likes to do cocaine."

Since the beginning of Donald Trump's second term, the two presidents have regularly clashed over issues such as tariffs and immigration policy.
