Member of the Coordination Framework, Abdul Samad al-Zarkoushi, called on Wednesday (July 29, 2026) for an emergency meeting of the Framework's constituent forces to discuss the repercussions of the attacks targeting Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) headquarters in several provinces. He emphasized that the attacks constituted a "blatant aggression" and a violation of Iraqi sovereignty, while also suggesting that Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi's visit to Saudi Arabia would be postponed.
Al-Zarkoushi stated that the PMF is "an official security force affiliated with the government," noting that the targeting of its headquarters, which resulted in more than 50 martyrs and wounded due to the American and Saudi bombing, is an unjustifiable attack and a clear violation of the country's sovereignty.
He called for an urgent meeting of the Coordination Framework, along with a statement from the Council of Representatives and the three presidencies regarding what he described as "the aggression," stressing the necessity of adopting a unified national stance that reflects the rejection of any infringement upon Iraq's sovereignty and its security institutions.
He added that Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi's visit to Riyadh, which was scheduled for tomorrow, "is now effectively postponed" in light of the recent security developments.
