Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi stated on Monday that the government will continue to protect Iraq's sovereignty, maintain the state's monopoly on the use of force, and eradicate corruption.
In a post on the X platform, al-Zaidi said, "On the anniversary of the genocide perpetrated by the ISIS terrorist organization against our Yazidi people and all other components of our nation, we commemorate one of the most heinous crimes that shook the conscience of humanity. We affirm that honoring the victims means achieving justice, uncovering the fate of the abducted, caring for the survivors, rebuilding Sinjar, and ensuring the voluntary, safe, and dignified return of the displaced."
He added, "This painful anniversary coincides with the commemoration of Arba'een, the fortieth day after the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), with its timeless values of resisting injustice and upholding truth and peace. We also remember the sacrifices of our security forces in all their branches, with the support of our brothers, friends, and the international coalition, in achieving victory over ISIS."
Al-Zaydi: We will continue to protect Iraq's sovereignty, restrict weapons to the state, and dry up the sources of corruption.
