Al-Zaydi directs the launch of executive procedures for the project of one million residential plots in the governorates.

Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi directed on Sunday the launch of executive procedures for the project to provide one million residential plots.

A statement from al-Zaidi's office indicated that "Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi chaired the fourth session of the Higher Committee for Coordination between Governorates on Sunday," noting that "service, economic, and livelihood issues specific to the governorates were discussed, with the participation of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Finance, Electricity, Justice, Agriculture, Education, and Water Resources, as well as the Director of the Prime Minister's Office, the Head of the Higher Committee for Coordination between Governorates, the governors and heads of provincial councils, the Mayor of Baghdad, the Head of the Council of Advisors, and a number of advisors."

The Prime Minister emphasized the government's determination to confront the current economic challenges, which have been impacted by regional conditions. He stressed the need for meticulous management of public funds and the strengthening of all efforts to overcome these difficulties. He explained that the government's success in this reform effort is a success for the provincial governments, and that it is imperative to provide the necessary support to the most affected and needy provinces, whose suffering cannot be allowed to continue in any form. The session addressed the topics and decisions on the agenda and adopted the necessary resolutions. In the housing sector, to advance the project of one million residential plots, whose implementation procedures will commence on September 1, 2026, and based on the presentation by the Director of the Prime Minister's Office during the meeting, it was decided that the governors would finalize the land allocation, follow up on the procedures for lifting agricultural reform restrictions, change land classification, complete designs, and transfer ownership to the municipalities.
