The Security Media Cell confirmed on Thursday that the government is proceeding with the project to restrict weapons to the state, stressing that the decision is a priority within the government program and is irreversible.
The head of the Security Media Cell, Lieutenant General Saad Maan, stated that Prime Minister Ali Falih al-Zubaidi is personally overseeing the implementation of the project, emphasizing that there is no change to the deadline for surrendering weapons.
Maan added that the government is working to create the appropriate conditions and environment for completing the project, noting that it enjoys broad judicial, parliamentary, and public support.
He explained that September 30, which coincides with the end of the international coalition's military mission in Iraq and the start of the project to restrict weapons to the state, will represent a "turning point in the history of modern Iraq."
The Security Media Cell reiterated that there is no change to the deadline for restricting weapons to the state and that the government is proceeding with its plan in this regard.
