The spokesperson for the Iranian Parliament's Committee on Councils and Internal Affairs, Valiollah Bayati, announced the approval of seven out of fourteen articles in the "Strategic Measure to Secure and Develop the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf" bill.
In a statement on Friday, he said the bill had been referred to the Committee on Councils and Internal Affairs for review as a subcommittee. He explained that the committee discussed the bill and listened to the opinions of its members before initially approving its general provisions.
Bayati added that the committee members then moved on to discussing the details of the bill, approving seven out of the fourteen articles. The remaining articles will be discussed and approved during the committee's meetings next week.
He clarified that one of the most prominent articles approved by the committee concerns the prohibition of the passage of equipment and supplies belonging to the United States, Israel, and countries that Iran considers "hostile" through the Strait of Hormuz.
The Iranian official justified this by stating that these countries, according to him, have used the Strait of Hormuz to carry out hostile acts against Iran and have launched "unjust attacks and aggressions" against the Iranian people. The project was referred to the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee in Parliament as the main committee, and its general principles were approved, while the details are currently being discussed. The project was also referred to the Urban Development Committee as one of the subcommittees for its study.
