Iraqi Minister of Electricity, Ziyad Ali Fadhil, announced the launch of new investment opportunities in the field of renewable energy with a capacity exceeding 10,000 megawatts, at a cost of approximately $6 billion.
Fadhil said, "The Iraq Investment Forum presented a range of renewable energy investment opportunities. Two months ago, a group of opportunities for thermal energy was launched, and implementation of projects with a capacity of 10,000 megawatts out of a total of 15,000 has begun."
He added, "New investment opportunities will be presented in renewable energy fields, such as solar, wind, and waste recycling, exceeding the 10,000 megawatt barrier, which is a significant addition to the system without relying on fuel." Fadhil pointed out that "10,000 megawatts is equivalent to investments worth $6 billion in the field of renewable energy."
He said, "Two sessions ago, the Iraqi Council of Ministers took decisions to refer more than 10,000 megawatts, part of which is for thermal energy," stressing that "total investment rates reach approximately $10 billion, and these projects will play a significant role in strengthening the electricity system."
