The Secretary-General of the Paralympic Committee and President of the Paralympic Athletics Federation, Mahdi Baqer, announced that Iraqi champion Jarrah Nassar won the bronze medal in the deadlift competition at the World Championships held in the Indian capital, New Delhi.
The Iraqi Paralympic Committee stated on Monday that "the steely Iraqi champion, Jarrah Nassar, managed to win the bronze medal, while runners Mohammed Al-Shalhoub and Ahmed Al-Shalhoub qualified for the 400-meter final, a new step that confirms the high status of Iraqi sports in international forums."
The statement added that "the competitions witnessed a supportive presence from the Iraqi embassy in New Delhi, which had a significant impact in raising the morale of the delegation and encouraging the players to continue to shine."
