Javier Tebas: Professionalism in Iraqi football has become a notable achievement.
A workshop on economic oversight, "Financial Fair Play," concluded Thursday evening in Madrid, Spain. The workshop was organized by the Spanish League (La Liga) and attended by representatives of Iraqi Premier League clubs and relevant departments of the Iraqi Football Association. A statement from the Iraqi Premier League media office stated that "the four-day workshop began with a focus on financial management, competitive sustainability, and economic oversight. Guidance was provided on how to apply these principles to Iraqi clubs, in addition to reviewing a set of mechanisms designed to help clubs generate revenue."
The statement quoted "La Liga President Javier Tebas as distributing certificates to all participants," and emphasized that "for us, Financial Fair Play is an essential part—I would even say it is an essential part of La Liga. Those who have such regulations are more competitive and more economically sustainable in the medium and long term."
Tebas added: "It has become clear that the professionalism of the Iraqi football system has become one of the country's notable achievements, and we look forward to more through our partnership with the Iraqi Football Association."
It is worth noting that this workshop is part of a series of workshops held by La Liga in Iraq and Madrid with the aim of developing administrative cadres and keeping pace with the development taking place in advanced football countries.
